STRESS FREE LIVING
“ It is not stress that kills us; it is our
reaction to it."
In today’s competitive world where everything operates
on a global basis it is hard to cope with the pressure both on the professional
and social front. In order to enable the teachers to handle stress more effectively,
the Performing & Visual Arts, Library and Computer (P.V.L.C) Dept. conducted a
workshop on 'Stress Free Living” for teachers on 16th March,2020. Different
types of stress (both good and bad) and an assortment of de-stressing
techniques were discussed that help in managing stress more effectively. This
helped the teachers to understand the concept of stress and also the various
psychological, emotional, environmental and physical effects emerging out of
it. The need of daily exercise and healthy lifestyle was explained. The
emphasis was laid on time management which is a key to stress management.
Teachers discussed their views and experiences and participated
enthusiastically in the activities. The workshop was quite informative and
interactive. It proved to be very stimulating as well as stirring and
encouraged the teachers to become physically, socially, mentally as well as
emotionally a better individual.
Principal Mr. Sanjay Yadav said that it may seem that
there’s nothing you can do about your stress level. But you have a lot more control than you
might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your
life is the foundation of stress management.
Headmistress Ms. Anju Gupta concluded
the workshop by saying that we can’t always control what goes on outside, but
we can control what troubles us within. She said that stress is not always bad in
fact at times it can be helpful in gaining a renewed sense of enthusiasm for
living and improving overall self-esteem. If one is prepared mentally and
physically to handle the pressure, then there is no need to worry.

as a part of their program-‘Chalo Adarsh Bane-A step towards India’s bright
future’ on 21st Feb,2020 . Ms. Shikha Saxena and Ms. Sameexa Pandey attended
the workshop.
The focus of the workshop was on how a person especially the adolescents gets addicted towards drugs that leads to naïve
minds succumbing to consume excess of alcohol and drugs thereby leading to
impaired control, disabilities and a negative social image. Expounding upon the reasons
and situations that lead to such an abuse, Swamiji also dealt with the indispensable
role played by family, friends, school and a conducive environment to tackle
such issues.
A lively interaction with the spokesperson was done
to learn the truth about drugs and alcohol, including what they are, how they
work, why people become addicted and their link with crime and social problems.

deeper rooted they become, often with devastating effects for the children,
their families, their schools and the community at large. Educating young
people and raising awareness is the
first step in helping them to protect themselves against the pressures and
temptations that lie ahead. If the
problem is addressed at the school level, then it will help in lowering the

WORKSHOP- EMOTIONAL
INTELLIGENCE
"Our emotions need to be as educated as our intellect. It
is important to know how to feel, respond and how to let life in so that it can
touch you."
An interactive workshop on emotional intelligence was conducted
for class 5th students in school Shooting Range on 11th October 2019
followed by sessions on 18th
October, 1st and 8th November 2019.
Emotional intelligence is actually the ability to identify,
evaluate, control and express emotions.
Resource person Ms. Akanksha Mishra, A Dance / Movement
Therapist demonstrated various facial emotions through an activity and
worksheet. She explained about both negative and positive effects of emotions
on our body and ways to overcome the negative emotions through empathy

All children need to have their EQ nurtured and be supported
through the mine fold of emotional experiences as they grow. This workshop
helped children to identify their own emotions and perceive the emotions of others
around them. They came to know how to deal with their big emotions and get

REPORT
The workshop was based on understanding life
skills and examining the importance of life skills in the teaching-learning
process. Emphasis was laid on ten core life skills which one should adhere to:
self- awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision
making, problem solving, effective communication, interpersonal relationship,
coping with stress and coping with emotions. The objective of this workshop was
self-exploration and self-introspection.
The resource person highlighted the key
issues involving mankind. Humans become what they think or assume about themselves.
Some of these assumptions, without logic-based verification act as nails and
clip the wings of humans, disabling them from living the way they want to live
(that is joyfully)!!It is a normal human problem that one is
not having cordial relationship with his/her family members, colleagues and
even strangers. This is basically because of three reasons which are
assumptions, arrogance and ego. As human beings we have to overcome all of
these by ignoring the preconceived notions about others and living in reality.
Reality is the universal truth. The speaker urged the participants to
look back into their lives and examine how their behaviour and decisions could
have led to different consequences, if life skills principles had been used. He
urged the educators to work for the holistic awareness of
one’s pupil. It includes right feeling, right acceptance and right thoughts.
We, as educators need to respect our students by listening them carefully. He
emphasized that a successful education lies at the core of creating an
insightful and responsive individual.

Teacher’s
role in the classroom: A teacher has
a special role to play when trying to maximize the learning potential of
students with special needs. The teacher facilitates learning by encouraging,
prompting, and by interacting
Physical space: the physical space of the classroom supports an inclusive
learning environment. To list a few aspects; low sound work-areas for children
with ADHD, disabled -friendly classes and corridors, classroom décor- an inclusive
classroom needs to be decorated in a way that does not create distraction.
Peer & Parents Support: It minimizes the problem of teasing/bullying and provides
opportunities for cooperative learning and parents also need to help the child
to develop his/her skills and to help with the reinforcement of learning that
happens.

She insisted that it is the
responsibility of a teacher to develop correct attitude in a child. Values and
Life Skills that children imbibe in school are the two important pillars of
their personality.
She insisted not to teach Value Education

situation based activities. She also suggested that schools should conduct
parenting sessions regularly to create awareness among parents and involve them
in the character building of the children.
“Art
is a lie that makes us realize the truth”- Pablo Picasso
Art and the importance of art in a student’s life are
predetermined and help in the replenishment of withering of grass of the mind
and various static characteristics. The
approach of looking at the world from a different perspective marks a child’s
first step towards “art”, which provides an endearing platform to these young
minds, wherein they could simply paint the message they want to give to the
world.
To appreciate this viewpoint of young minds and to
bring out their creativity and imagination, Ahlcon International organized
“Nimble Strokes” on 5th-6th August, 2019 having two components - Art
competition and Clay Moulding competition.
We saw artistry exploding in every piece that
was being made providing an opportunity for the students to express their
feelings through art and clay on varied topics like Save Water Save life, Save
Animals Save Humanity, Wall hangings with animals, trees with best out of waste
, Flower pot, Animals ,tree with a nest. Bold, subtle and colorful strokes were
presented by students which were age appropriate and espoused the aim of achieving
the Sustainable Development Goals. All students were commended for their
performance and creative ideas in Art and Clay. Headmistress Ms. Anju Gupta
expressed her warm appreciation for the active participation of the students
and encouraged them to keep the ingenuity alive by practicing different art
forms

SECTION
STEPS FOR ANTI-BULLYING
REPORT
Keeping
in mind that bullying among students is prevalent, the Primary Department has
taken certain steps to create awareness among students on what constitutes
bullying and how to stand against it.
An
assembly was conducted for classes III to V with the theme of Anti-bullying by
class IV – B led by their class teacher, Ms. Suruchi Singhal.
The
assembly was presented in a way where it was clearly explained what is
bullying, who is a bully and who is the bullied, what all is considered as
bullying in school, how to and when to stop others from bullying. At the end of
the assembly, the Anti-Bullying Committee teachers were introduced to the
students and were informed that they could report to their class teachers or
the committee in case they are bullied or witness any such act. In her address
to the students, HM, Ms. Anju Gupta briefed the students that the first person
to report a case of bullying is the class teacher, then any of the committee
member teachers, if things don’t get sorted even after that, then they can
reach the Principal / HM for further action.
An
Anti-Bullying Committee of teachers has been made with the following members
from the Primary Department:
1.
HM, Ms. Anju Gupta ( Presiding Officer)
2.
Ms. Priya Kapoor (Teacher)
3.
Ms. Sangeeta Sahni (Teacher)
HM,
Ms. Anju Gupta met with the Committee Members on Wednesday, 24/07/19 and the following
points were discussed:
Concerns -
1.
Students are bullied both physically and verbally.
2.
Few cases of Bullying based on race and physical appearance
have been observed by the teachers.
3.
Minor cases of Bullying by exclusion, false allegations made
by a group of students to get a particular child reprimanded, teasing,
snatching things, poking and prodding, etc. also been observed.
4.
The lunch break of the senior and junior department being in
succession leads to a lot of chaos in the canteen area which has only one
counter for collecting coupons and one for receiving the food. Due to which junior students are not being
able to get the food on time.
5.
Senior students roaming in the primary corridors during the
day and coming into primary classrooms on the upper floors after the primary
department students have dispersed for the day was reported.
Suggestions –
a.
Awareness generation by counselling in class will be done.
b.
Assemblies will be conducted on this theme.
c.
Lunch break timings can be adjusted to ensure that senior
students leave the canteen well before Primary students come.
d.
The doors near the senior library from the Primary staircase
can be kept closed for the students so that only teachers can access them.
e.
Doors can have biometric configuration to limit the entry of
students at some places.
HM,
Ms. Anju Gupta had a meeting with the Principal, Mr. Ashok K Pandey regarding
the above concerns and some solutions were discussed which are as mentioned
below:
1)
The canteen can have one counter each for coupons and
serving of the food on both sides and using one side for the Primary students
and the other for Middle and Senior students.
2)
A food counter will be set up on the 1st Floor of
the Primary department exclusively for the primary students, on Wednesdays for
Class 3, Thursdays for Class 4 and Fridays for Class 5.
In their formative years, children need a
secure, positive, and comfortable environment to help them learn and grow. As
children spend a significant part of their childhood in schools, it is
imperative that the ambience is positive and nurturing where they feel safe and
secure on the premises and with the care providers.
With the aim of making teachers the safety agents
for students, a session on 'Child Protection' was conducted by Ms. Sunita Rajiv
on 11th July , 2019. The focus was on identifying and responding to
vulnerability, child abuse and neglect, as well as developing best practice
policy and procedures to keep the kids in our care safe. She mentioned about
the vulnerabilities that are often present in cases of abuse. Substance abuse,
family violence and mental illness (the 'toxic trio') are the main indicators
to look out for. Discussion on different categories of child abuse, namely physical,
emotional and sexual abuse, neglect and exposure to intimate partner violence
and signs and indicators of each type of abuse was done.
“School Safety” is about creating safe
environment for children, starting from their homes to their schools and back.
This includes safety from any kind of abuse, violence, psycho-social issue.
Many useful tips were shared with teachers which can be helpful in identifying
the problem and to understand it and
explore possible solutions.
·
Create a relationship where children can
express their views, concerns, anguish, fear . Try to engage with children in
informal discussions.
·
Be a good listener. Share and discuss various
issues and problems which children are facing either in school or at home.
·
Say NO to corporal punishment. Use positive
reinforcement techniques like dialogue and counselling to discipline children.
·
Encourage children to put forward their views
before the adults and the community
·
Spend some time with the child privately,
without being imposing, humiliating and creating an embarrassing situation for
the child.
·
Help the child express her/his problem either
through drawing and painting or by writing a story or simply talking to you or
the school counsellor/social worker or to a friend in the class.
In the
end, Headmistress, Ms. Anju Gupta said,” By ensuring we have the right policies
and procedures in place, we can make a big difference to the kids we come into
contact with. Working together can help in
creating and strengthening a protective environment around children. She also advised
the teachers to follow the tips in class and conduct safety sessions on regular
basis.
HELP OTHERS STAND TALL
Educators have the
opportunity to make a huge impact on their students – however, they face many
physical challenges themselves, which may result in low back, neck and shoulder
pain; tired feet, aching legs, headaches, insomnia and stress. Often, the
number one concern for teachers is back pain when standing. Whether you’re a
nursery school teacher or a college professor, job-related challenges can be
reduced or avoided, especially if you know how to improve posture.
Highlighting the same
problem, a workshop was conducted for teachers on 5th July, 2019 by Dr. Neha
Narula from QI Spine Clinic,India's largest network of back, neck & spine
specialists dedicated to treating severe back & spine conditions non-surgically.The
doctors at QI Spine Clinic use advanced technology and latest research-based
techniques to diagnose and isolate the root cause of back pain and customize
treatment based on the diagnosis & patient history. Dr. Neha discussed the
various issues faced by teachers due to their posture and work routine at
schools. She demonstrated some simple exercises which can be taken up at work
place for small relaxing breaks . She also suggested why it is important to
create working and learning environments that are both safer and healthier, and
for staff to adopt better working habits, leading to improved well-being for
them . According to her, musculoskeletal health interventions can also help
reduce long term costs, boost staff performance and produce better academic
outcomes for pupils.
The workshop
concluded with an interactive session where many teachers cleared their doubts
and got an insight about the small preventive measures they can take for a
healthy lifestyle.

Sanjay Yadav said that it may seem that

might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your
life is the foundation of stress management.
Headmistress Ms. Anju Gupta concluded
the workshop by saying that we can’t always control what goes on outside, but
we can control what troubles us within. She said that stress is not always bad in
fact at times it can be helpful in gaining a renewed sense of enthusiasm for

as a part of their program-‘Chalo Adarsh Bane-A step towards India’s bright
future’ on 21st Feb,2020 .
It was discussed that the longer these problems go unnoticed or ignored, the
deeper rooted they become, often with devastating effects for the children,
their families, their schools and the community at large. Educating young
people and raising awareness is the
first step in helping them to protect themselves against the pressures and
temptations that lie ahead. If the
problem is addressed at the school level, then it will help in lowering the

National Mathematics Day- 22nd December 2019
Shakuntala Devi once said 'Mathematics is only a systematic effort of solving puzzles posed by nature'. The self-taught Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan was successful in solving these puzzles and made remarkable contributions in the field of mathematics. Every year 22nd December is celebrated as National Mathematics Day to pay tribute to Ramanujan's achievements and mark his birth anniversary.
Little Ahlconites of primary section celebrated this day on 23rd of December with lots of enthusiasm by participating in various activities. All the students from Classes I-V were shown video on life and contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan,
Class III students made beautiful Symmetrical cards. They pasted small mirrors on one side and one half of the image of Ramanujan on the other side. In the cluster of mirrors, one could see the full face of our great mathematician. Students used the concept of reflective symmetry to create these beautiful cards.
Class IV students solved an interesting puzzle worksheet “First In Math-24 Game”. Students had to make the number 24 using the 4 given numbers by applying any of the four basic operations of Math. Students churned the wheels of their brain and enjoyed a lot in solving these puzzles.
Class V students indulged in solving Sudoku of different levels and were given a time limit which created immense excitement in the students.
These fun-filled activities not only appreciate the contributions of our great mathematician but also encouraged children to explore mathematical concepts.

WORKSHOP- EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
"Our emotions need to be as educated as our intellect. It
is important to know how to feel, respond and how to let life in so that it can
touch you."
An interactive workshop on emotional intelligence was conducted
for class 5th students in school Shooting Range on 11th October 2019
followed by sessions on 18th
October, 1st and 8th November 2019.
Emotional intelligence is actually the ability to identify,
evaluate, control and express emotions.
Resource person Ms. Akanksha Mishra, A Dance / Movement
Therapist demonstrated various facial emotions through an activity and
worksheet. She explained about both negative and positive effects of emotions
on our body and ways to overcome the negative emotions through empathy
building.
All children need to have their EQ nurtured and be supported
through the mine fold of emotional experiences as they grow. This workshop
helped children to identify their own emotions and perceive the emotions of others
around them. They came to know how to deal with their big emotions and get
over anger or disappointment.
By bringing awareness to the emotions and moods that are felt or
perceived in different situations children can now assess the EQ of each place.
Building EQ will help children to be a good manager, good
leader, be able to contribute to a team and the ability to develop strong
connected relationship now and later in life.
EVS CREATIVE EXPRESSION COMPETITION
EVS makes us aware about the protection and conservation of
our mother earth and about the destruction due to the release of pollution into
the environment. Keeping this in view EVS department planned and organized EVS
Creative Expression Competition.
Under this, Class 3 made Eco
Danglers on the theme ‘Save Environment’, Class 4 made Cash the Trash on the theme ‘Reuse of Single Use Plastic(SUP)’ and
Class 5 made Eco Stratum on the
theme ‘Food Chain’. The idea behind this competition was that children had to
use eco- friendly material or reuse things to create an original and creative
models.
Students participated enthusiastically in this competition
and came out with many innovative ideas. Judges had a tough time selecting the
best ones and preparing the results. Creations of all the participants were
displayed in the class and the winners were awarded by the Principal, Mr.
Sanjay Yadav and Headmistress, Ms. Anju Gupta. They appreciated the efforts of

Mamta Modern School. The workshop was conducted by Inclusion Expert, Dr. Derek
Richard and Special Education Specialist ,Ms. Mudita Yadav. Ms. Gargi Thakur
from Primary and Ms. Neeti Vij from pre-primary Department attended the
workshop.
The focus of the workshop was the inclusion of children with
special needs in the classroom with the other children. To enable this
integration it is very vital that the teacher is sensitized to the learning,
social and physical needs of the students.
Some of the strategies
for Inclusion discussed by the experts are as follows:-
Teacher’s
role in the classroom: A teacher has
a special role to play when trying to maximize the learning potential of
students with special needs.
Peer & Parents Support: It minimizes the problem of teasing/bullying and provides
opportunities for cooperative learning and parents also need to help the child
to develop his/her skills and to help with the reinforcement of learning that
happens.
The
resource persons also discussed the strategies
to assist teachers in meeting the needs of students in an inclusive classroom
as well as CBSE’s relaxations for children with disability. Overall it was a
very enlightening and much needed workshop.

It was an interactive workshop based
on value inculcation in children. The resource person connected the topic to
the classroom experiences of the teachers and the role of parents.
She insisted that it is the
responsibility of a teacher to develop correct attitude in a child. Values and
Life Skills that children imbibe in school are the two important pillars of
their personality.
She insisted not to teach Value Education
as a subject but to integrate it in the curriculum especially languages through
situation based activities. She also suggested that schools should conduct
parenting sessions regularly to create awareness among parents and involve them
in the character building of the children.
“Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth”- Pablo Picasso
Art and the importance of art in a student’s life are
predetermined and help in the replenishment of withering of grass of the mind
and various static characteristics. The
approach of looking at the world from a different perspective marks a child’s
first step towards “art”, which provides an endearing platform to these young
minds, wherein they could simply paint the message they want to give to the
world.
To appreciate this viewpoint of young minds and to
bring out their creativity and imagination, Ahlcon International organized
“Nimble Strokes” on 5th-6th August, 2019 having two components - Art
competition and Clay Moulding competition.

An Anti-Bullying Committee of teachers has been made with the following members from the Primary Department:
1.

Capacity Building Programme On Life Skills
By :-Ms. Anju Gupta
Life Skills as the word
describes are the abilities required to effectively deal with demands and
challenges of life. Life Skills development is a lifelong process that helps
individuals grow and mature. Life skills should be effectively provided to
young children at every stage by teachers, educators, parents and counsellors. It

were done which resonated their importance well.
Life skills can be integrated
well with other subjects as it is very rewarding and can help children manage
and deal with innumerable instances happening inside & outside the school.
The workshop was very enriching as it made the teachers more
sensitive towards understanding the needs of the students and inculcating life
skills in their teaching styles so that the education which the children get,
is with added value to their personality as a whole.

She laid emphasis on the fact that our child's world is different from an adults world. Technology has affected relationship of a parent and achild . She told that yesterday's luxuries are today's needs and Children have become more aware and demanding. Now a days parenting is no more an effortless job due to the changed dynamics of family and Society. Joint families are no longer the norm. Parenting is very individual, yet there are some common principles. Good parenting is not about the style of parenting but about the understanding and love.
She discussed with the group of parents that how they have to be involved in
their child's life and at the same time give them space and freedom. It is all about nurturing , monitoring closely and setting limits from a very young age. On the flip side it is also about praising the child, allowing freedom and teaching discipline.
A child spends 6 to 7 hours at school and teacher takes over the role of a parent. Children learn through experience and teachers have to take care to turn a child's curiosity into creativity. She briefed them that a child's creativity is 98% at 5 years 32% at 10 years and 10% at 15 years of age. Therefore, it's good to catch them young. The session was very helpful for the young parents of today.
