Beyond
Classroom Learning
Movies have a
tremendous influence in shaping young lives in the realm of entertainment
towards the ideals and objectives of normal adulthood. Keeping this in mind, Ahlcon International
School organized special screening of the popular movie ‘The Lion King’ for the
students of classes 1 to 4 and ‘Mission Mangal’ for Class 5 in the month of
August’2019. There was an air of excitement and jubilation among children as
they were travelling with their peers to watch the show.
For classes 1to 4, the
objective for showing the movie was not only to refresh the students but also
to witness an amalgamated view of relationship between humanity and
nature. The film was surefooted
in its effects, precise and simple in
its characterizations, and clear about what it's trying to say about the values like co-operation, sharing and caring. The
students learnt to become brave and confident while facing hardships in real
life situations. The movie was very helpful in emphasizing that one should
never give up easily upon their childhood dreams.
For class 5,the movie
Mission Mangal helped in promoting the scientific temperament in the students.
They were surprised to see many new things about
physics, planets, satellites, gravity. They learnt how dreams transform into
reality with a clear vision and outright courage. Nothing is impossible if we
believe in ourselves and dream big.
The movies were an engagement of both educative and
informative view towards life and its related perspectives in the realms of
children. Students loved the enthralling day of fun and frolic accompanied by
the supportive guidance of teachers and refreshing snacks to munch on. The parents, teachers and students were very
thankful to the Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav and Headmistress Ms. Anju Gupta for
organizing such fun filled infotainment for the students.
An Escape to Serenity
To unwind and relax their nerves from the scorching heat of Delhi, a
group of 35 students along with four teachers headed towards Mashobra ,a lush
green expanse in Himachal Pradesh ,before the summer break. A four day
Adventure Camp organised by Rock Sport proved to be a great learning and
knowledgeable experience for all the young students. This rejuvenating break
from their hectic routine gave them memories full of fun and frolic. Students
were divided into teams where they were allotted different instructors. After
settling in the comfortable cottages, the students headed towards various
activities like rock climbing, rappelling, zip lining, Burma bridge, gorilla
warfare, camp games etc. They learnt various life skills like cooking, tent
making which made them confident, courageous and to a great extent assisted
them to conquer their fears. Students will nurture these experiences throughout
their lifetime.
Report of Bharatpur-Fatehpur Sikri Trip
"Fill your life with adventure, not things. Have stories to
tell, not stuff to show."
Believing in the above quote, it has been a
constant endeavour of Ahlcon International School, to hone the students’ skills
of eco-sensitivity, leadership, team work and personality development through
adventurous excursions and trips.
One such trip was organized for class III
students, to Bharatpur and Fatehpur Sikri in the month of March, at the dusk of
the academic session 2018-19.
Thirty four children alongwith three teachers,
had gone for the excursion and had a comfortable stay at a luxurious hotel ‘The
Bagh’. The children enjoyed bird watching and rickshaw rides in the Bharatpur
Bird Sanctuary (Keoladeo National Park), where they saw a number of migratory
birds such as cranes, pelicans, hawks, wagtails etc and some animals like deer.
Their awareness about SDG 15 ‘Life on Land’ was enhanced through this
exploratory tour. Later in the evening, children danced their hearts out with DJ,
followed by lavish dinner.
To enhance the awareness about SDG 9 ‘Industry, Innovation and
Infrastructure’ and SDG 11 ‘Sustainable Cities and ‘Communities’, children set
off to Fatehpur Sikri, which is the perfect example to show the techniques used
to build cities with a lot of planning, innovation and sustainability. They
first witnessed the beauty of emperor Akbar’s palace, where they saw the
Diwani-i-Khas (hall of private audience), Jodha Bai’s palace, Panch Mahal etc. They
also saw the magnificent Buland Darwaza, that was built by Emperor Akbar to
commemorate the victory over Gujarat. Last but not the least, the Bharatpur
museum that has a collection of sculptures, inscriptions, coins, weapons etc.
was visited after which, the children set off on their journey back to Delhi.
Such trips are planned to sensitize children
about India’s rich heritage, culture and architecture which, they normally do
not witness in their daily routine. It was a fun-filled experience for the
students as well as the teachers and the memories of which will be cherished
forever.

VISIT TO NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR BLIND
After the motivational and inspiring talk by Mr. Prashant Ranjan Verma and Ms. Veena Mehta Verma under the project ‘Beyond our Eyes’, the Junior section of Ahlcon International School organized a visit to NAB (National Association for Blind), R.K. Puram for selected students of class III on Saturday, 25th Feb’17.
The students were explained the method of reading and writing Braille and were shown the Braille tools used by the visually impaired people. They were also given a hands-on experience of writing in Braille.
They were taken to the computer training room where some blind students were learning the computer skills in order to use technology as one of the important tools to work and progress in life. It was amazing to see that children are trained to use ATM and make cashless transactions.
The students and teachers of Ahlcon are touched to see the determination of those visually impaired children to live a normal life and to achieve success in all the fields. The children there were so friendly, well-mannered and welcoming.
Someone has truly said, “The loss of sight cannot impair the qualities of heart and mind.”
We really hope that this visit will help our Ahlconites develop empathy and compassion for the people with special needs and they will treat them as normal human beings.
Thanks a lot for sharing such a wonderful blog.
